Local Law Enforcement
Around fifty cars have been smeared with what appears to be blood from a person in the Germany's town of Hanau near Frankfurt, as reported by law enforcement.
Cars, walls and mailboxes were defaced, in some cases with Nazi symbols, they stated in a release.
Police say they were alerted late on Wednesday night, when a individual noticed that a car in the Lamboy area of Hanau had been covered with a reddish fluid.
The liquid had been applied in the shape of a Nazi symbol, they reported.
Police then located many other vandalized cars and building exteriors in the surrounding area.
Swastikas are illegal in Germany under regulations banning the visible presentation of symbols from the Nazi era.
Police report early analysis show the fluid was likely blood from a person.
"There is still no lead as to where it came from; authorities are currently not cognizant of any injuries in connection with the incident," they commented.
City officials said they were attempting "to solve the incident" and have asked to the community for information.
A high-ranking political figure commented the attack rendered him without words and required to be resolved quickly.
"This event hits the center of Hanau and reawakens the pain of the far-right violent incident five years ago," he stated on social media, recalling the killing of nine people by a assailant aiming at people of immigrant origin in 2020.
