Ever since the premiere of the fourth campaign, fresh DM Brennan Lee Mulligan has maintained audience suspense with extensive world-building, a wide array of personalities, and a exciting storyline including angels, demons, and sinister influences increasing in strength within Dol-Makjar.
Heads-up: Key plot points for Episode 3 of the new season lie ahead.
The Soldiers Table Introduced
The third episode concluded with a dramatic pause and introduced the first table of heroes who will branch out from the central cast to undertake their independent quest, distinct from the remaining groups.
The combat-focused team features Teor (played by Travis Willingham), the agile character (the talented performer), Tyranny (Whitney), the cleric (the player), and Kattigan Vale (Robbie Daymond).
The Reason for Division
With 13 cast members, it was obvious from the outset that keeping everyone at a single group would be impossible.
That’s why, the first four episodes of the new season serve as an Overture, intertwining the individual narratives before dividing into three smaller tables: Soldiers, Schemers, and Seekers.
The Nature of the Combat Party
As described by Brennan Lee Mulligan, the combat-focused party is for players who enjoy a traditionally charged battle-oriented story mode where peaceful solutions are scarce.
Upon first impression, figures such as the reluctant priest Wicander Halovar might seem out of place, but the actions of the third episode show why these particular heroes are perfectly fit for the warrior group.
Why They Must Go
To begin with, the party knows exactly where to head next after a violent opening clash with the antagonists.
Casimir of Thjazi Fang—whose death kicked off the campaign’s events—manipulated the foes for his selfish purposes, entering the hidden lair, striking Thimble, and taking all the magical artifacts to dispose of.
Casimir then cleared his liabilities and escaped to a Halovar stronghouse in Gormalay, Timmony, beyond the city, with Cyd hot on his heels.
Character Drivers
Additionally, each adventurer has a personal reason to exit the urban setting:
- The agile hero, as the close ally and closest confidant, seeks vengeance.
- The knowledgeable figure is familiar with the region and advises that it is a nasty location.
- The warrior and Wicander, having defied his house’s orders to kill the target and instead saved him, have nowhere else to go.
- But, their position as prominent individuals in House Halovar could enable the team enter locations they normally couldn’t.
- Moreover, The fighter pledged a life debt to The savior for his salvation and will now accompany him anywhere.
Fugitives
Lastly, all of them are sought by the rulers that govern the setting for a range of causes, making lingering locally too risky:
- The agile adventurer and The character are recognized lawbreakers.
- Tyranny and The cleric betrayed House Halovar and the army of fiends they are allied with.
- Teor is marked for death by the family.
This results in them no alternative but to head to the northern region in pursuit of Casimir.
Upcoming Developments
From the recent installment’s post-show segment, we find out that the Soldiers table will be absent in the upcoming installment, leaving the remaining eight participants to form the Explorers and Strategists tables.
Audiences can look forward to learning which players will be in which group in Campaign 4’s concluding setup installment, available to watch on the upcoming Thursday.
