PSG Defeats Olympique de Marseille on Penalties to Claim French Super Cup in Kuwait.

PSG players celebrating

The Parisian club has now claimed the prestigious cup on fourteen separate times.

The Parisian giants required a stoppage-time equaliser followed by a perfect spot-kick decider to overcome Marseille in the Gulf and secure a fourth straight French Super Cup title.

The European champions seemed to be sailing towards a comfortable win in the match between the Ligue 1 winners and the French Cup winners after the French winger found the net in the opening stages.

Yet, the southern French side fired twice late to seize a surprise advantage. First, Mason Greenwood converted from the spot-kick, before Willian Pacho inadvertently turned the ball into his own net for an own-goal.

In a remarkable twist of fortune, Goncalo Ramos snatched a vital equaliser in the dying seconds to send the contest into a deciding shootout. PSG goalkeeper Chevalier then stood as the key figure, saving decisive attempts from Matt O'Riley and Traore.

In the shootout, Goncalo Ramos, Vitinha, Nuno Mendes, and the young talent all converted successfully for PSG to seal a 4-1 penalty victory.

The record champions PSG, who met last season's Ligue 1 second-placed team Olympique de Marseille after achieving a domestic double, have now lifted this trophy for the twelfth time in the last 13 years.
